Ciardi Hnos. and BP S.A. | Argentina

From November 25 to 28, 2024, BP S.A. and FEGIME LATAM implemented the “More Light, More Community” project in partnership with the Santa Teresita de Aguaray Franciscan Center. The initiative brought sustainable access to water and electricity to two vulnerable Wichi communities in Salta, Argentina. In Pozo El Mulato, a water pump, solar panels, and a storage tank were installed, benefiting 34 families. In Magdalena, solar lamps were distributed to 18 families along with training on their use.
The impact of the project has been transformational. For the first time, families now have secure access to clean water, enabling personal hygiene, safe consumption, and the possibility of starting vegetable gardens. Children, previously unfamiliar with basic games or community spaces, are now beginning to experience social integration. The project improved health conditions, encouraged biodiversity, and inspired interest in replicating solar energy solutions locally.
More than infrastructure, this initiative represents a shift in dignity and opportunity. It strengthens community cohesion and human rights while contributing to multiple Sustainable Development Goals. The project stands as a replicable model of inclusive, sustainable development—and a shining example of what it means to be agents of change.
