The Better Future Awards are an initiative created by FEGIME Future to recognize and celebrate impactful sustainability efforts within the FEGIME network.

Designed to highlight projects that contribute to a more responsible, inclusive and environmentally conscious future, the Awards reflect the belief that small actions when guided by strong values can generate meaningful change across our industry and communities.

The 2025 edition of the Better Future Awards was held during the FEGIME Congress in Porto, where the shortlisted finalists were presented and the winners officially announced in front of the entire international network.

 

Award Categories & Criteria

The Better Future Awards 2025 were structured around three core categories, each representing a different area of impact within sustainability:

  • Reducing Footprint
    Recognizing projects focused on minimizing environmental impact, such as reducing emissions, waste, or resource consumption.

  • Maximizing Handprint
    Highlighting initiatives that generate positive environmental value — for example, projects that promote clean energy, innovation, or circular economy practices.

  • Enhancing Social Aspect
    Celebrating actions that support community wellbeing, inclusion, education, or social development, especially for underrepresented groups.

Projects were evaluated by a joint committee composed of the FEGIME General Assembly and FEGIME Future members, ensuring representation from both current leaders and the next generation.

The 2025 edition of the Better Future Awards saw an impressive level of engagement from across the FEGIME network, demonstrating that sustainability is no longer a trend — it’s a shared responsibility.

Our Winners

 

Maximizing Handprint

Project: Automation of Hydroponics and Rainwater Management for Sustainable Development
In collaboration with Schneider Electric and Fundación Reciduca, Electro Universo developed a fully automated hydroponic greenhouse, integrated with a rainwater harvesting system. The project promotes efficient food production and sustainable resource use, while offering technical training to over 600 young people from vulnerable backgrounds.

Enhancing Social Impact 

Project: Towards a More Inclusive Future – Transforming Lives and Communities
BP-SA implemented a comprehensive labour inclusion programme by partnering with Casa Grande, a daycare center for people with disabilities. Through formal employment, training, and corporate volunteering, the initiative promotes equal opportunities and highlights the social and organizational benefits of inclusion.

Reducing Footprint 

Project: Green Logistics and CO₂ Tracking with Kinver Green
Berggård Amundsen developed “Kinver Green,” a tool that tracks emissions across their transport network. Combined with RFID technology, thinner stretch film, reusable boxes, and electric deliveries, the company significantly reduced plastic waste and carbon emissions — a clear step toward climate responsibility.
