13 fearless colleagues from FEGIME Polska member company Grodno have just completed another epic trip. In the past they have conquered the Himalayas and the mountains of Tajikistan by motorcycle. This time the destination was Mount Kilimanjaro – at 5,895m above sea level the highest peak in Africa – and the trek was on foot.
And what a physical challenge it was! Not only did the intrepid team have to deal with 5 days of continuous physical exertion and risk altitude sickness (no one succumbed!), but also cope with a difference in temperature of over 50°C (at the foot of the mountain under the African sun it was ca. +30°C but at night nearer the summit -20°C).
We are happy to report that all 13 mountaineers made it to the summit – where they were greeted by a wonderful sunrise – and back down again without any problems. The descent alone took 2 days but provided an even better opportunity to enjoy the amazing views.
Kilimanjaro is popular at FEGIME. In recent years teams from Portugal and Poland have also successfully made the ascent. Congratulations to Team Grodno – and the FEGIME teams of the past who inspired them!
