Mill Upgrade & Replacement

Content

As part of a major upgrade at the Heidelberg cement plant in Tașca, Bicaz, Electroglobal provided a new Siemens cycloconverter system to replace an outdated Alstom model. This turnkey solution included the new CCV installation, automation and integration, synchronous motor monitoring and heating, and full project execution support.

The new system enables vectorial motor control, reduces mechanical stress, and improves power factor and energy efficiency. It also includes an “inching mode” for precise mill positioning, enhancing operational flexibility and reducing wear.

Scheduled to go live in February 2024, the system will be monitored through a 24/7 service contract, with remote diagnostics and proactive maintenance—making it a strong example of how technology upgrades can reduce energy consumption and improve industrial sustainability.
